Stefania Galegati Shines nasce nel Ravennate, ma vive e lavora a Palermo dal 2008. In esposizione, in questa mostra realizzata con il patrocinio della Regione Siciliana e del Comune di Palermo, opere e serie pittoriche, video e installazioni, lavori fotografici, narrazioni di quotidianità e di storia, di incontri casuali, di pirati, di visioni eroiche e al contempo naif. Nel percorso espositivo sono accostati lavori strutturalmente definiti a opere più estemporanee, rinviando a possibili intrecci tra storia e quotidianità: così il film Passeggiata in Paradiso, racconto dell'incontro tra due anziani in cui una dimensione intima si sovrappone alla memoria partigiana, incrocia 1001, una installazione composta da un ritratto di Garibaldi, appartenente alla collezione della GAM, appoggiato sul rimorchio di un Apecar.

La mostra prosegue con narrazioni di incontri imprevedibili e piccole epifanie – come "The color of the season (Dolce e Cababba)", slideshow accostato ad Anna e Carlo, libretto con la corrispondenza privata tra un'artista e un collezionista – che costituisce l'occasione per presentare una nuova serie pittorica, Pirates, in cui le figure e i volti di pirati somali, tratti da fotografie reperibili su Internet, erano dipinti sui tessuti a righe usati per le tende da esterno, a sottolinearne la dimensione eroica ma anche il carattere vagamente naif ed esotico.
